Carrara Vs Max
Published on March 31, 2012 By neone6 In OS Customization

Since I´m slowly taking my Graphics & skinning to the next level I´m more or less leaving Bryce for.......Carrara 8

I thought about 3d´s max , but Since Carrara is directly crossworking with Daz studio (Figure-poses etc) I decided to go with Carrara 8.

It is a Jungle of menues and parameters for Everything but I´m not afraid of the big bad wolf

Anyone got experience with Carrara or thoughts on this feel free to Jump in !

Well Bryce is easier to learn, not as many menues and changeable parameters plus the userinterface is designed almost like somthing from a game.

Carrara on the other hand is a full blown 3D programme that lets you do EVERYTHING just like 3D´s max that AV man use, but carrara can import and export  directly from Daz studio which is mainly used for figures/people in 3D....

Its basically all the same only the Table of tools and the placement is different most of the times- some products manufactures just give some options different names while its basically the same thing. if you can work with Bryce you will be also able to learn max or ,Carrara 8, ZBrush i have seen your other post about the DocWho wallpaper you made from scratch, i didnt want to disturb... but that was good. i think we had a bad start and i might overreacted back some time where bk posted... And i want to appologize...Even while i was grumpy for some time about you but i still respected your work and didnt let the past influence on these thoughts .I just did not want to post and post on every skin since i was still grumpy but i downloaded them   and rated them mostly with a 9 or 10 -I respect how much you evolved i n skinning in the past short time...( I mean how much better and better you got ) like i said in one of my threads ( the wall paintbrush with the beach sunset and Palmtree the reallife thing ) You have skill no doubt and i bet you will also manage this´to the fullest after some tuts.
The best way to train is Tutorials for breakfast...thats how i learned Zbrush Photoshop Illustrator

I think I'll stick to learning the little guys first then work my way up. Andy...have you tried blender? It does what both Daz Studio 4 does plus is also a full blown 3D program. Steep learning curve though and the UI is very different. If you haven't already give it a shot. Its free under the GNU license, open source. Link - http://www.blender.org/

DAZ 4 and Bryce are both FREE, ATM. Plus something called Hexagon. I snagged them all. But, silly dummy as I am, I never thought of using them for skinning.

You didn't??? That was the first thing that came to mine head.

Been playing with figures and scenes. I thought it would be a good way to illustrate my book if I can ever figure it out... It runs nice though, not hogging resources the way my usual graphics program does. With it I whistle the "Final Jeopardy" tune while waiting for a render to finish (or a save)
